The lone BJP MlA in the State Assembly, Shamik Bhattacharya staged a walkout complaining against the repeated attacks staged by the Trinamool men on the poor and people from the minority community.
He demanded a statement from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, alleging that Birbhum Trinamool president Anubrata Mandal was acting like the SP of the district. The immediate reference of his criticism of the Government was Wednesday's attack on BJP supporters by TMC goons in Parui.
Meanwhile, in a clear violation of constitutional provisions regarding the Right to Equality before law, the BJP and Trinamool supporters who were arrested for the same offence after Wednesday's clashes that left half-a-dozen people injured, were booked under different Sections, the saffron leadership complained.
While the Trinamool men were booked under lighter Sections, the BJP men were charged with attempted murder, Birbhum district president Dudkumar Mandal said.
