There was more twist to Partha Chatterjee case with the Enforcement Directorate investigating the money laundering part of the school level recruitment scam stumbling upon more properties of the deposed Bengal minister and once the number two man in the ruling Trinamool Congress.

According to sources Chatterjee had amassed huge amount of property in South India particularly Bengaluru. ED officials have discovered 8 such apartments belonging to Partha Chatterjee and his close aide Arpita Mukherjee in prime areas of Garden City.

The properties are together priced at Rs 50 crore, sources said adding apart from the apartments the former minister and TMC secretary general --- whose ‘contributions’ to Bengal’s land movements have been included in the high school syllabus --- is known to have acquired several acres of farmhouses and also had invested in real estate business, sources said.

Partha Chatterjee and Arpita Mukherjee were arrested last month after Rs 50 crore in cash was recovered from her two apartments in Kolkata. Property deeds and jewellery worth several crores too were recovered from the duo's possession.

According to sources a former colleague of Chatterjee --- who had retired as a General Manager of a private concern before joining politics --- had helped him in his South Indian deals. Money was sent to Bengaluru either through hawala or through RTGS, sources have revealed.
