Several elected representatives from the Panchayati Raj Institutions, a battery of yoga teachers and farmers and members of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) as well as their families will be among the government’s special invitees expected to attend the 75th Republic Day Parade Celebrations 2024 in the national capital.
Ahead of the general elections slated next few months, the Ministries such as Panchayati Raj, Ayush and Agriculture have taken initiative to ensure that representation of their sector is at the Kartavya Path on the D-Day.
Union Ayush Ministry in a statement said that yoga teachers/instructors from various states of India will witness the Republic Day parade as special invitees.
“The Government has invited 291 yoga teachers and Instructors along with their family members for their remarkable contribution in providing primary health care through Yoga at grassroots level across the nation.
“These Yoga instructors/teachers are engaged in the primary health care/wellness sector through AHWCs (Ayush Health and Wellness Centres) working under flagship scheme of National Ayush Mission of Ministry of Ayush.”
After the Republic Day event all the special invitees will also interact with Sarbanada Sonowal, Union Ayush Minister at his residence.
These special invitees will visit different historical places of importance in Delhi.
Similarly, about 500 guests, including elected representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions from across the country and their spouses, have been invited. The selected participants are from those panchayats which have received the National Panchayat Awards in the previous years, or their panchayats have done remarkable work, said an official from the Panchayati Raj Ministry.
“The objective is to provide an opportunity to the panchayat representatives to take part in the national festival, in line with the government’s vision of ‘Jan Bhagidari’. This initiative holds immense significance as it reinforces the democratic ethos by recognising and involving panchayat representatives in the national celebration,” said the official.
After attending the Parade, they will meet Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Giriraj Singh at his residence. Minister of State for Rural Development Faggan Singh Kulaste and Minister of State for Panchayati Raj Kapil Moreshwar Patil will also be present at the interaction.
