Pakistan Rangers on Friday violated ceasefire agreement by targeting border outposts of Border Security Force along the International border in Arnia sector of Jammu frontier. This is the first incident of ceasefire violation after the beginning of holy month of Ramzan.
According to official sources, “Pakistan Rangers opened ‘unprovoked’ firing at Pindi post of BSF in Arnia sector of Jammu around 9.35 am”. The small arms fire continued for a brief period and the same was effectively retaliated by the BSF jawans to prevent any infiltration bid from across the IB. According to official sources in the BSF, no loss of life or any other damage was reported in the fire exchange.
Meanwhile, BSF has alerted its patrols along the International border in Jammu frontier to maintain extra vigil especially in low lying areas which are flooded with water on account of regular rainfall in the area.
There are certain patches in the area which fall in the rivulets and during rainy season these routes are exploited by the infiltrators to sneak inside the Indian territory. In the absence of regular foot patrol the BSF jawans use motor boats and horses for patrolling in the area.
In the recent weeks the Pakistan Army was regularly targeting forward Indian posts along the line of control in Poonch sector with an aim to push more armed militants inside the Indian territory. The Pak Army had even deployed their Border Action Teams along the loC to inflict maximum damage to the patrolling Indian troopers.
The BAT teams are suspected to have planted IED’s near the line of control to cause maximum damage to Indian troops. A porter was killed in the
IED blast on July 8 while another suspected infiltrator was blown in to pieces in Saujiyan sector of Poonch on July 1 while attempting to infiltrate inside the Indian territory.
