Pak violates ceasefire again in Poonch

After remaining peaceful for about one month, the line of Control (loC) in Poonch sector on Wednesday evening witnessed heavy exchange of fire after Pakistani Army trained its guns towards forward Indian posts in Saujian sector breaching the ceasefire agreement.

According to official sources, the ‘unprovoked’ ceasefire violation took place along the loC in Saujian sector around 6.40 pm on Wednesday.

According to ground reports, several forward Indian posts were targeted from across the loC by Pakistan Army using sophisticated and automatic weapons.

Defence PRO in Jammu while confirming the fresh incident of ceasefire violation said, the firing which started around 6.40 pm was going on in the area well past 9.00 pm.

This is the first incident of ceasefire violation along the loC after Pakistani Premiere Nawaz Sharif was snubbed by Narendra Modi in his maiden speech at the United Nations General Assembly Session in New York.

The senior Army officers from both the neighbouring countries had earlier resolved to honour the ceasefire agreement at a Brigadier level flag meeting held in the first week of September. Tensions prevailed along the International border and the loC between India and Pakistan for over six weeks between July 16 and August 28, 2014.
