India has said that Pakistan is using diversionary tactics by complaining to United Nations and seeking its intervention on the present Indo-Pak hostility on the border and line of Control (loC). Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said the “road to peace and co-operation runs from Islamabad via lahore to Delhi and diverting that road to New York won’t work.” He added that by doing so Pakistan has only shown that it was not interested in talks.
Clearing Indian position Akbaruddin said that India was willing for a serious dialogue with Pakistan on all outstanding issues including Jammu & Kashmir but strictly under the framework provided through Shimla Agreement and lahore Declaration. The spokesperson said there was no place for a third party intervention.
“We are willing for a serious dialogue under the Shimla Agreement and lahore Declaration framework and this dialogue will cover all outstanding issues including issues of Jammu & Kashmir. But it seems from what Pakistan is doing that it is not interested in this. The sending of a letter to the UN Secretary General by Pakistan is a well-known tactic and it has not worked earlier nor will it work now. The road to a peaceful and cooperative relationship between India and Pakistan runs from Islamabad via lahore to New Delhi,” Akbaruddin said.
