There has been no let-up from the Pakistani side to violations in ceasefire agreement reached between the Armies of the two neighbouring countries deployed along the line of Control (loC) in Jammu & Kashmir in November 2003.

In the last 24 hours, at least five incidents of ceasefire violations have been reported across different sectors in frontier districts of Rajouri and Poonch. Ceasefire violation also took place in Pallanwalla area of Akhnoor in Jammu.

According to Defence PRO in Jammu, “Pakistani Army resorted to unprovoked firing in different sectors of Krishna Ghati, Bhimber Gali and Pallanwalla during the last 24 hours.” So far over two dozen incidents of brazen ceasefire violations have been reported in the area since August 1, 2015.

He said the firing which started late in the night went on intermittently till wee hours of Thursday. According to him, the Indian Army is also responding effectively to silence the enemy guns.

Some of the villagers living in the direct line of fire in forward areas of Poonch in Sawjian and Balakote have shifted their families to safer places to prevent any loss of life.

Ceasefire violation was reported even on Thursday evening in Balakote sector where Pakistani Army trained its guns towards the forward Indian posts in the area possibly to aid group of infiltrators trying to sneak inside the Indian territory under the cover of thick foliage and inhospitable terrain.
