Barely hours after the Pakistani Rangers offered traditional ‘chaddar’ at the border shrine of Baba Dalip Singh Manhas popularly known as  ‘Baba Chamliyal’, exchanged packets of sweets and warmly shook hands with their Indian counterparts along the International border in Ramgarh sector, the Pakistani troops resorted to ‘unprovoked’ firing along the line of Control in frontier Poonch district in the wee hours of Friday.

The Pakistani troops, according to ground reports, trained their guns towards the Indian posts well past midnight  alerting the security grid along the loC. The Pakistani troops may have provided cover fire to the group of infiltrators to sneak inside the Indian territory. In the wake of month-long Amarnath Yatra, the security personnel deployed across J&K would remain on their tenterhooks to foil any such infiltration bid aimed at disrupting the yatra.

During the hour-long exchange of fire which started around 12.35 am, Pakistani troops also targeted several Indian forward posts in the Bhimber Gali area. According to Jammu based Defence PRO, “Pakistani troops resorted to ‘unprovoked’ firing at Indian posts along the loC in Bhimbher Gali-Gambhir forward areas of Poonch around 0035 hours”.Defence PRO said, “Pak troops used small arms and automatic weapons to target the Indian posts”.
