Rattled by the punitive strikes by the Indian Army across the line of Control, Pakistani troops have been regularly training their guns more towards the civilian areas than the forward Indian posts.
To hit their long-range targets inside the Indian territory, Pakistan Army has also deployed their long-range artillery guns close to the loC to achieve maximum trajectory from hillocks.
Pakistan Army enjoys the advantage of commanding peaks at a higher altitude and is trying to make maximum use of the ridge lines to target the Indian villages falling in the direct line of fire.
According to official sources, Pakistan Army started adopting this strategy after suffering extensive damages on their side. Indian troops have been frequently spotting heavy movement of Pakistan Army regulars and others along with medical equipment and ambulances after these calculated hits.
Indian Army has been able to inflict heavy damages on their side in the last two days of intense shelling. Heavy fire assaults has caused extensive damage, claimed a senior Army officer deployed in Poonch.
On Monday at least three civilian houses were hit hard by the Pakistan shelling in the forward area of Guld in Poonch.
One of three houses was completely raized to the ground while two others suffered maximum damages after a hit by 120 mm mortars.
The occupants of these houses escaped unhurt as they had taken shelter in same areas in the vicinity. Unconfirmed reports claimed two soldiers also received injuries during the exchange of cross border firing in Balnoi area.
Defence PRO’s, in Udhampur and Jammu, however, shied away from confirming these ground reports.
Sources claimed the injuries were taken care of by the local formation and the injured soldiers were not rushed to any other hospital.
Meanwhile, in fresh incidents of ceasefire violation on Monday Pakistan Army provoked strong retaliation from Indian troops.
“Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation in Mendhar sector of Poonch district from 09:15 hours,” Defence spokesman said.
He said that they fired 120 mm mortars, 82 mm mortars and automatic weapons targeting Indian posts and civilian areas.
Troops guarding the border line gave a befitting reply resulting in exchange which was still going on when reports last came in.The firing continued till late Monday afternoon, Defence PRO said.
