Old city of Hyderabad, once known as “curfew city” due to the frequent outbreak of communal violence and other crimes is now emerging as an “oasis of peace” compared to the other parts of the city.

Hyderabad Member of Parliament Asaduddin Owaisi has highlighted the declining crime rate in the old city or South Zone in police parlance by tweeting about the police data and congratulated police and the people over this achievement.

South Zone had no incident of murder or snatching in first two months of 2018, while there were 12 murder cases and two incident of snatchings in 2017 down from 35 murders and 45 chain snatchings in 2014. In 2015 this part of the city witnessed 29 murders and 34 snatchings and in 2016 24 murders and 12 snatchings.

“This is the ‘South Zone’ Old city law and order record”, he tweeted. Targeting the Congress party without taking its name, Owaisi said, “I hope Janeudhari party and pessimists will take note and would thank @TelanganaCMO and @telanganaDGP and proud people of South Zone”.

“We need to ensure no offence of heinous crime takes place for people to live with dignity”, Owaisi wrote on the Twitter.

Owaisi’s party Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen often faced allegations from Congress and the BJP that it was patronizing the anti social elements or criminal gangs.
