Fresh trouble seems to be brewing in Osmania University with a group of students planning “Beef Festival” next week and some Hindu outfits, including a BJP MlA threatening to disrupt it.
A delegation of leaders of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti headed by the BJP MlA Raja Singh today met the Osmania University In-charge Vice Chancellor Rajeev Ranjan and urged him not to allow the Beef Festival slated for December 10.
Beef Festival, organised by groups of Dalit students has become a regular feature in the Osmania University campus. Couple of years ago it had led to a clash between the organisers and the members of ABVP, the students wing of the BJP. It had left scores of students injured and many organisers were taken in to custody by the police HJS alleged that the idea of festival was anti-national and anti-Hindu and that it should be stopped.
