Congress has announced party vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s itinerary during Telangnana tour. Rahul will spend a night in a lambada tribal hamlet in Nirmal constituency of Adilabad district on May 10. After he lands in Hyderabad, Rahul will drive to Nirmal, 210 kms from Hyderabad. Party sources said that the Telangana Congress leaders have shortlisted four hamlets of Sainagar, Mahaveer Tanda, Potupally and Jahanam Tanda for his stay. One of them will be finalised soon for his night halt.
Initially, Medak district was considered for his tour but finally Adilabad district bordering Vidarbha region of Maharashtra was finalised. Next day on May 11, Rahul will undertake a 15 km walk ‘Aatma Gauravam Padyatra’ in lakshman Chanda mandal and to meet five families of farmers who committed suicide. He will cover Vadyalu, Rachapur, Potupally, lakshman Chanda and Koratikallu villages during his walk. Rahul will spend some time with each of the five families to discuss their problems.
There was also a proposal to include Osmania University campus in Rahul’s visit but, it failed to find a place in his final schedule. Rahul’s visit is expected to enthuse the party members. Party leaders are mobilising 20,000 party workers to participate in his padyatra. They conducted meetings at the party headquarters at Hyderabad to make the necessary arrangements for the visit.
