BJP State president Keshav Prasad Maurya said that upswing in party’s popularity has sent opposition parties in a huddle and now they are looking for alliance as they know that would be decimated in the coming Assembly election.
“As the elections are drawing near the Opposition parties are realising the strength of party’s organisation. The opposition parties know they are no match to BJP therefore they are scouting for allies,” Maurya said in a statement issued here on Wednesday.
The BJP State president was reacting to recent visit of Samajwadi Party State president Shivpal Singh Yadav to Delhi where he met leaders of Janata Dal (U) and RlD. Reports say that Congress strategist Prashant Kishore met Mulayam Singh Yadav in New Delhi at the residence of Amar Singh. “The fact is the parties like RlD, Janata Dal (U) and Congress have lost their relevance in Uttar Pradesh. All these parties have previously decried the mis-rule of Samajwadi Party Government but now they are looking for mahagath bandhan (grand alliance) with the same party. How can people believe these parties,” Maurya said.
He questioned Congress leadership what would happen to the Chief Minister’s face of the party now.
He even asked Mulayam as which faction of Samajwadi Party he would support – Shivpal Singh Yadav or Akhilesh Yadav.
“These are the questions people are raising. As they do not have any answer these parties have been reduced to a laughing stock,” he said adding people have faith only on BJP and will support the party in 2017 elections.
