Opp slams Shinde Govt for running State sans Cabinet

Coming down heavily on the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena-BJP alliance government in Maharashtra for lack of a full-fledged Cabinet in Maharashtra, the Opposition Congress said here on Saturday that “it is a misfortune” of the people that even 36 days after  the formation of a government, the State was run by bureaucrats and not by the elected representatives.

Slamming Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for lack of proper governance in the State, Maharashtra Congress’ chief spokesperson Atul Londhe said: “It is the misfortune of Maharashtra that even after 36 days since Eknath Shinde formed the government with the help of BJP,  a full-fledged Cabinet has not been formed. This has happened for the first time in the history of Maharashtra”.

Londhe said that in the absence of a full-fledged cabinet, it was wrong on the part of Shinde and Fadnavis to run the affairs of the state through bureaucrats. “The governance of Maharashtra should be handled by people's representatives and not by secretaries,” he said.

Londhe revealed that the reason for the late Chief Minister Shankarao Chavan renaming Sachivalaya as Mantralaya was to ensure that governance should be people-oriented and the people should feel like that it's their government.
