Opp parties running disinformation campaign against BJP, says Naidu

Giving a new twist to the ongoing controversy over the death of a Dalit student Rohit Vemula at University of Hyderabad, Union Minister of Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Parliamentary Affairs M Venkaiah Naidu slammed Congress, Communists and other parties for raking up four D (disinformation, derail, divert and disrupt campaign) Formula.

In an informal chat with the reporters at coastal city of Mangaluru airport en route to Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday he said, “Congress and left are resorting to mass disinformation campaign owing to their inability to take on the BJP ideologically. Opposition is resorting to 4D campaign — disinformation, derailment, divert and disrupt — unable to digest BJPs single D formula, that of Development.”

“The move to rake up the Hyderabad issue is a clear example for disinformation campaign. The Opposition has been consistently derailing important bills, diverting people’s attention from development (issues) and disrupting Parliament. With all these, they are trying to fail PM Narendra Modi; unfortunately they are failing the nation”, he said.

Dismissing Opposition’s demand for resignation of his ministerial colleague Bandaru Dattatreya in Hyderabad incident, Venkaiah Naidu said there is nothing wrong in Dattatreya expressing concern over increased casteism and anti-national activities in the university campus. “Rahul Gandhi who did not find time to visit Hyderabad University where 9 students died in the past 11 years is now getting violent over death of Rohit Vemula,” he commented.

He blamed Opposition for creating hurdles by derailing important piece of legislation including the GST Bill, Real Estate Development Bill. He said at the time when Indian economy was doing well and moving forward at the time of  global economic slowdown opposition parties were creating hurdles by creating road blocks to pass important bills like GST and Real Estate Development bill.

He came down on Congress for opposing the GST Bill introduced by their own government in 2008, he said their insistence on fixing a cap on tax in Constitution has been shot down even by experts. Reminding Rahul Gandhi, AICC vice-president that the cap the Congress is seeking was not there in the original GST bill introduced by then finance minister Pranab Mukherjee nor insisted by his successor P Chidambaram, Naidu said it puzzling why Congress is insisting on it now.
