Dismissing the Doraemon analogy used by the Opposition Congress to castigate his Government, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Sunday that despite its debacle in the recent municipal council polls, the Opposition had neither learnt its lessons from the poll defeat nor was it showing any maturity in its conduct. Talking to mediapersons at Nagpur, Fadnavis said, “The Opposition party leaders are still pre-occupied with watching cartoons. It is the State’s misfortune that the Opposition has matured yet. With the BJP’s lotus blooming in the recent civic body polls, the Opposition finds itself in a pitiable State.” Contesting the Opposition’s criticism that the ordinary people were undergoing hardships because of the Centre’s demonetisation decision, Fadnavis said that the people had got considerable relief because of the various measures due taken by the Government in the wake of scrapping of Rs1,000 and Rs500 notes.
Alluding to the Opposition’s charge that the State Government had not done much during its first two years in office, the Chief Minister said: “During the forthcoming winter session, we will explain to the people and the Opposition parties as to what all have done during the last two years and what we will do in the next three years”. Fadnavis said that the State Government was preparing a plan of action on the Maratha reservations. Fadnavis said that the state government would compensate for the losses suffered by farmers because of the demonetization decision. “But, we can not and will not compensate for the losses suffered by the Opposition parties because of the demonetisation decision,” the Chief Minister quipped.
