'Only Cong leaders opposing land Bill'

Published on:

At a time when the Congress is targeting the ruling BJP on the land Acquisition Bill, Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu trained his guns on the Opposition party for using the Bill as a political motive during his visit to Gujarat.

The Urban Development Minister however, said that the BJP-ruled Government at the Centre was open to useful suggestions on the Bill. Talking to reporters, Naidu said that children of farmers should get the jobs. Citing example of the Gujarat model, he said that everybody has seen how infrastructure got a boost after industries and institutes came in the State.

Targeting the Opposition party, he said that farmers in Gujarat and all over the country are not opposing the Bill, but only the Congress leaders are. Making his party's stance clear, he said the Modi Government always wanted discussion on the Bill and if anyone has suggestions, the Centre is open to accept in order to make the law more useful.

Naidu was in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar for a workshop on 'Smart Cities' hosted by Gujarat Technological University. He also visited the Gujarat BJP's swanky headquarter 'Shree Kamalam' near Gandhinagar and met the office-bearers there.
