An Army jawan, deployed on Road Opening party duty, was killed and three others received splinter injuries when an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded near Shamshipura area of Khanabal in Kulgam district on Wednesday.
The IED blast took place when jawans of the road opening party were sanitising the general area near Khanabal in Kulgam. Soon after the blast took place the entire area was cordoned off by the security forces to conduct general searches in the area. Meanwhile, all the four injured jawans were rushed to the 92 Base hospital in Srinagar.
Defence PRO in Srinagar Col Rajesh Kalia said, “The IED blast took place around 10.15 a.m in which four jawans of the road opening party received splinter injuries in general area Shamshipura,Khanabal in Kulgam district on Wednesday”.
Defence PRO said, all the four injured jawans were given first aid and rushed to the 92 Base hospital where one of them succumbed to his injuries.
