A Hyderabad student who fell off a floating casino on the wee hours of Sunday and subsequently drowned was found washed ashore at the Miramar beach around two kilometres from here. The police have registered a case of negligence and endangering human life against the management of the Casino Carnival where the incident took place.

local police said that 20-year old Dhanush Sai lost his footing while exiting the vessel and fell into the choppy monsoon estuarine waters of the Mandovi. “Eyewitnesses said that he slipped from the second level of the boat. It was raining and the area was slippery. His friend dived in after him, that but the body could not be found,” a police official said. The body was found Monday afternoon after it washed ashore.

Dhanush, along with two other friends had been on a holiday to Goa and had on Sunday decided to visit the casino vessel, located off Panaji.  The casino management, has however insisted that they did all they could in terms of safety procedures mandated by the State Government.

“At this moment our thoughts are with the family of the victim. Casino Carnival follows strict code of safety,” a spokesperson said, adding that they were fully cooperating with the police.
