Though life limped back to normalcy in parts of Howrah and Murshidabad where the Internet services were still suspended in many places the Prophet row continued to burn some other parts of Bengal including Nadia district where the protesters on Monday resorted to bombing and vandalizing shops even as the police had a hard time to contain the unruly mobs.

Large contingent of police forces led by Nadia SP Rashid Munir Khan did the rounds of the National Highway 34 linking Kolkata to Siliguri and the North East where the protesters assembled intermittently often hurling bombs and damaging passing vehicles, sources said.

Though the situation was normal during the noon, crowds assembled towards the evening and started hurling bombs and damaging the shops along the NH 34 forcing the police to fire tear gas shells, locals said. About 15 people had been arrested.

Bethuadahari, more famous for housing a national park came in the news on Monday when violent mobs attacked local trains injuring passengers.

Section 144 was clamped in large parts of the area. Most shops had been closed in the area following a 72-hour shutdown call given by the local business community. Meanwhile, ADG Law and Order Javed Shamim said more than 200 people have been arrested and 42 FIRs filed in the violence.
