Workers of National Students Union of India (NSUI) forced closure of several educational institutions in the wake of Eid on Tuesday. Though all the Government schools were closed due to public holiday, some of the private schools didn’t observe holiday and continued functioning. However, at around 10 am, workers of NSUI Rajkot unit went to these private schools and forced to keep holiday.
“All the educational institutions should obey rules and give respect to Government notification on public holidays,” said the NSUI Rajkot unit vice president. He said that the workers forced at least 12 schools and colleges that didn’t observe Eid holiday. On the other hand, school and college managements argued that they are having negligible number of Muslim students or there were not a single student from the minority community, so there was no point to keep holiday on Eid.
Meanwhile, leaders of NSUI also went to District Education Officer (DEO) to represent this issue and demanded action against the educational institutions for disobeying notification of the State Government on public holiday.
