NSCN (K) chairman Khango Konyak has been unanimously elected as the new chairman of the United Nationals liberation Front of West South-East Asia (UNlFW), the umbrella organisation of northeastern militant outfits.

A press note issued by UNlFW on Wednesday said this and added that the decision was made during the general session of the UNlFW, hosted by NSCN (K) on October 13-14 at the outfit’s central headquarters at Taka. The new chairman has been empowered with full executive authority to direct and execute any actions or policies on behalf of the front and also during emergencies.

The general session was participated by NSCN (K), anti-talk faction of the National Democratic front of Bodoland (NDFB) and Chief of the Kamatapur liberation Organisation (KlO) Jibon Singha Koch, the statement said.

It may be noted that NSCN (K) Chairman, late SS Khaplang, who had passed away in June this year, was the founding Chairman of the front.
