Gujarat Congress in its official press-release claimed that more than 4,000 elected representatives of the party and its workers were detained by the police during the day.

“Since morning, Congress MlAs, office-bearers of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC), party’s elected panchayat members and workers were on the street against BJP-ruled Government’s anti-farmer policy. Apart from loan waiver, they raised issues including minimum support prices for agriculture produce, water and electricity at cheaper rates and seeds and fertilizers at subsidies rates,” said GPCC spokesman Manish Doshi.
