In a bid to cash in on the popularity of 22-year-old jailed icon of Patidar reservation movement Hardik Patel, a Gujrati film producer has decided to make a biographical film on him.
The film ‘Power of Patidar’ will be produced by Surat-based Dipak Soni which would focus on the Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) convener Hardik’s meteoric rise in public life. The film-maker is hopeful that the film on a current hot topic would bring large number of people to cinema halls.
Generally Gujarati films do not attract audiences in urban areas. Hence most of the film producers opt to make films of rural background having folklore as theme. However Soni feels that Patel’s popularity and his fan following would attract rural as well as urban audience across the State.
Recently couple of Gujarati films on urban background have become hit. This fact has also encouraged Soni to produce a film on PAAS convener. According to him the film would cost him nearly 1 crore. He and his team could find artists looking a like Hardik and his close aide.
These artists have put in lots of efforts to depict real life story on silver screen. They have gone through lots of video footage, held meeting with Patel’s family members to know about him and his friends involved in movement for Patidars who are demanding reservation for Patels in educational institute and government jobs under OBC category.
Sources in Soni’s production team said that artists were working hard and studying minutely on Hardik’s walking style, his dialect and other important points.
The biopic which has already gone on floor after Hardik’s father Bharat Patel gave clap for muhurt shot would cover everything right from his childhood to his entry into public life, his days in jail and entry of a girl in form of his fiancée. In order to dramatise the story, the maker of the film has also created love triangle too!!
