Nothing unusual in NaMo calling lalu, says Sushil Modi

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi has contended that the RJD chief lalu Prasad would have avoided taking the courtesy call of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi had he known about the identity of the caller in advance.

Narendra Modi had made a call to lalu to inquire about the RJD chief’s health after he was injured in a freak accident while going to Raghopur to meet the people affected by a fire incident last Friday.

Modi told mediapersons in Patna on Monday that leaders use to call each other to make inquiries in such situations and there is nothing unusual in it.

“I am, however, certain that lalu responded to the call in the belief that I was making the call and not Narendra Modi,” the Deputy Chief Minister remarked.

Modi said that he had called lalu on Saturday to know about his health condition and was greatly relieved to know that his condition was not worrisome.

State Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, however, did not call the RJD chief when  he was informed that lalu had not suffered any serious injuries in the accident.

“One inquires about such matters by considering the health condition of the person concerned,” Kumar noted.
