A poor farmer labourer in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh received a shock of his life when he came to know that he had turned a millionaire overnight and there was an amount of Rs 1.26 crore in his bank account.
Nazeer, a resident of Amilepalle village in Gurramokonda mandal of Chittoor district had opened an account at Andhra Bank Gurramkonda branch only two months ago and had a meager deposit of Rs 192 in it.
On Thursday he gave Rs 250 to “Bank Mitra” or village bank agent to be deposited in his account. Soon he received a message confirming the deposit. But the total balance in his account left him speechless. The message showed the total deposit in his account at Rs 1,26,76,436. Even the receipt received by the Bank Mitra also showed that his account had a big deposit of Rs 1.26 crore.
A worried Nazeer rushed to the bank to inquire about the matter but the bank official expressed their ignorance about who had deposited the money.
As the new spread, the Income Tax officials rushed to Gurramkonda and seized the account and they were investigating whether somebody had deposited by mistake or it was an attempt to convert the blackmoney in to white.
