In no let up in its aggressive stand against scrapping of the currency notes of high denomination, the Shiv Sena on Wednesday charged that by dropping the atom bomb of demonetisation, the Narendra Modi Government had reduced the country’s economy to “Hiroshima and Nagasaki” and rendered 40 lakh people jobless during the last 70 days.
The Sena stated in an editorial published in its official mouth-piece “Saamana”: “Today, PM Narendra Modi is no mood to listen to anyone. Modi did not bother to heed the concerns expressed by RBI Governor (before he chose to demonetise currency notes of the denomination of `1,000 and `500). He has deaf and dumb puppets as Ministers his in his Cabinet. He has derailed the country’s economy by appointing an RBI Governor of the same standard.”
Alluding to a study by Assocham, the Sena editorial stated: “Following the Centre’s demonetisation decision, a staggering 40 lakh people have been rendered jobless and more number of people are going to be unemployed in the days to come. This only means, Modi has -- by dropping the atom bomb of demonetization – has reduced the country to Hiroshima and Nagasaki. We have a reason to be concerned about the country’s future. The people in the country are no longer secure in their lives”.
