No vendetta in Vadra land deal probe, says Rajnath

A day after the Haryana Government set up a judicial commission to probe into land deals, including those of Congress president Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law, Robert Vadra on Friday maintained he had nothing to hide but said he hoped the enquiry will "not be used for political vendetta".

Reacting to Vadra's statement, Rajnath Singh said the BJP does not practice vendetta politics. "This much I can assure the countrymen that as far as our Government is concerned, we do not do vendetta politics. We want to take everybody along and want to ensure everyone's development," Singh said.

"An enquiry has been ordered by the Government of Haryana. let us await its outcome," Vadra said in a statement, adding that all laws were followed in a "completely transparent manner". "Neither me nor anyone associated with me has anything to hide. I sincerely hope that an enquiry will not be used for political vendetta," Vadra said.

Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said if the Haryana Government wants to investigate and enquire into the land deals during the previous Congress Government, where does the question of vendetta arise.

"Be it Vadra or anyone else, no one is above the law. On the question of fraud in land deal, the entire nation knew of it. After a clean chit was given in a hurry by the previous Congress Government, if Haryana Government today wants to re-investigate and inquire into the loot due to land deals, where does the question of vendetta arise," Naqvi said.

The State Government appointed retired Judge of Delhi High Court, Justice SN Dhingra, as one-man Commission of enquiry to probe issues concerning the grant of license(s) for developing commercial colonies by the Department of Town and Country Planning, Haryana, to some entities in Sector 83, Gurgaon.

The BJP had made land deals under the previous Congress regime in Haryana a major poll issue during the last year's election alleging that land rules were relaxed to favour a few including Vadra company  for developing commercial colonies in Sector 83 of Gurgaon.
