The Supreme Court on Monday refused to order probe against judicial officers of Delhi subordinate courts, accused of misusing funds allocated towards purchase of laptops.
With the matter already being enquired by a Committee of three Delhi High Court judges, the Bench — headed by Chief Justice of India Hl Dattu — asked petitioner Vibhor Anand to await the outcome of the probe.
The PIl argued by advocate VK Anand told the Court that misuse of public funds by judicial officers was a serious matter and judicial officers must face criminal law as any other common citizen. The bench assured Anand that since the filing of the petition, he took up the matter with Chief Justice of Delhi High Court and was informed about the sub-Committee of judges enquiring into the matter.
“High Court is looking into the matter. We need not issue notice when the matter is pending before the sub-committee of three senior judges,” said the bench, also comprising Justices Arun Mishra and Amitava Roy.
The Court admonished the petitioner for approaching the Court without awaiting the outcome of the Delhi High Court’s in-house probe.
