Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan on Monday said there should be no politics over the decision to adjourn the Lok Sabha till 2 pm and not for the entire day following the death of his younger brother and MP Ram Chandra Paswan saying a new convention has been set so that the House could resume its duties after the condolences.

Congress leader in the Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury had earlier in the house urged the Speaker not to do away with tradition saying the house be adjourned for the day.

Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned till 2 pm on Monday as a mark of respect for sitting member Ramchandra Paswan who passed away.

Speaker Om Birla led the House in expressing condolence over the passing away of Paswan and former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit.

Ram Chandra  Paswan, a Lok Janshakti Party member, was a member from Samastipur in Bihar. He passed away on Sunday.   Dixit, who had also been a Lok Sabha member, died on Saturday last.

The members expressed their condolence and stood in silence for a while.

Opposition members, including from the Congress, protested after Birla said the House has been adjourned till 2 pm. Chowdhury sought the Speaker not to do away with tradition and said the House should be adjourned for the day. Traditionally, proceedings are adjourned for the day when a sitting member passes away when the House is in session

Paswan said  there should be no politics over the decision to adjourn the Lok Sabha till 2 pm.

"The decision to adjourn Lok Sabha till 2 pm shows Parliament's feelings for my family at the death of my beloved brother Ramchandra Paswan," the minister tweeted.

"Parliament has started a new convention so that it can resume its normal duties after 2 pm," he said. "Ram Chandra Paswan has been a voice and a leader for Dalits and the weak. No politics should be done over this," he said.
