'No merger with Congress now'

On a day when it reiterated its stand to contest the Maharashtra Assembly polls in alliance with the Sonia Gandhi-led party, the NCP ruled out possibility of its merger with the Congress in the wake of its poor performance in the lS polls.

Dismissing a suggestion made by senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh that the NCP should merge with the party, NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik said, “When we were with the Congress, they did not recognise our value. Now we are a separate party and have our own identity. Hence, there is no question of merging with the Congress.”
