Urban Development Minister Azam Khan who had faced barbs from the oldest litigant in the Babri case Hashim Ansari said if someone withdraws from the Babri case it would have no impact.
"If any member of the Babri Masjid Action Committee or any individual litigant wants to withdraw it would have no impact on the case. There are many who would come forward and fight for justice," Azam said in a written statement issued here on Thursday.
He was reacting to the statement of Hashim Ansari who had declared that he would withdraw from the Babri case over the attitude of Azam Khan. Ansari, who had filed the case almost six decades back said that many leaders made their political fortune from the Ayodhya issue and now are living in big mansions.
Azam said he had no knowledge as to why Hashim Ansari is angry. "This is very strange that a person who has contested this case so vigorously all of a sudden decides to withdraw from the case. How it is possible that a person who challenged the powerful people in the court all of a sudden became so weak," he said.
"This is a matter of probe as why a strong man like Ansari is withdrawing his steps," he said. He, however, did not answer the allegations leveled by Ansari against him. Azam had earlier said that this is no longer a disputed issue because a temple already exists at Janmabhoomi site.
