All the top cops which included Additional Director General of Police (law and order) Daljeet Singh Chowdhary as well as IG of two elite forces of the State, the Anti-Terrorist Squad and Special Task Force (STF), along with senior officers of National Investigation Agency (NIA), are working in tandem to get a breakthrough into the sensational killing of NIA Deputy SP Tanzil Ahmed but to no avail.

“The probe is still wide open on both personal as well as terror angle as so far they failed to establish the concrete motive which had lead to killing of NIA officer”, disclosed senior officer who was camping in Bijnore to crack the case at earliest. The officer said that identity of the two youths, who were seen in the venue at the marriage of niece of Ahmed is still to be ascertained. However, he said that it is still to be established that the two had any link to the killing also so they were making efforts to confirm whether any mobile call from unknown number has been made from the spot particularly by the two youths as it might give them some further lead.

The officer further confirmed that what also creates hurdle before them is that though two black motorcycles were found parked near the marriage venue but they failed to see their registration number plate or any other important mark which helped them to establish the owner’s name.

Replying whether the killing could be executed by some terror group, the officer said that at present they were looking on all angles which included all personal disputes of the deceased officer. Meanwhile IG Bareilly Zone claimed that the video footage of Close Circuit Televisions (CCTVs) which they received so far give them no important clue about the killers or the bike used by them to execute the sensational killing. The cops claimed that Ahmed wanted to purchase some land but the dispute occurred as brother of the owner of the land wanted that the property should remain in the ownership of the family, thus he protested the move of his brother.

The NIA officer was shot dead when he was returning back from a wedding function of his niece along with his family members on late Saturday night. In the postmortem, doctors found 24 bullet injuries in the body of Tanzil Ahmed. His wife Farzana also received four bullet injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Noida in critical condition. The children aged 15 and 12 years were unhurt with their father asking them to go hiding in the back seat. The criminals reportedly used prohibitory 9mm pistol to kill the

officer.
