No Congress, NCP tie-up for Gujarat polls, says Solankai

Terming Sharad Pawar’s political outfit Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) as B-team of BJP, Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Bharatsinh Solanki announced that there wouldn’t be any tie-up with NCP in view of upcoming Assembly polls in Gujarat.

“NCP is acting as B-team of Bharatiya Janata Party. We are not going for any tie-up with them.  We may enter into an electoral tie up with JD(U),” said the GPCC president. Congress had fought last Assembly polls of 2012 in the State jointly with NCP.

In the 182-member Gujarat Assembly NCP is having two MlAs.

The rift between the two parties has been rising for some time now and had reached peak as both the NCP legislators voted against official Congress candidate Ahmed Patel in recently concluded Rajya Sabha polls. local NCP leaders have earlier made a statement that the party would contest from at least for 50 constituencies.
