No compromise on law: Nitish on Anant's arrest

Published on:
In an obvious reference to the arrest of his controversial MlA Anant Singh, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday said he has established rule of law in Bihar and he did not come under any pressure nor anyone was needed to be concerned.“When in 2005 I came to power I established rule of law from that very day. Before that during Nyay Yatra I made two promises to the people that I will adopt a path of development with justice and establish rule of law. Until I am here people should not feel concerned about law and order,” he said while talking to media.
He said it was not only today but always he had maintained that law would take its own course irrespective of the person in the dock. “My Government neither implicates nor protects anybody. Action is taken against the culprit as per his wrongdoings. The rule of law is for all without discrimination,” said the CM and regretted that Opposition parties were in habit of speaking nonsense but he was least bothered about them.
Asked if the arrest of his MlA and criminal cases against him had anything to do with the Assembly election, Nitish said it hardly mattered. “I don’t have double standard of action. If a crime is committed action will be taken whether there is election or not. He was reacting to a question that he acted against Singh just to impress the people that he would not compromise on law and order even if the culprits belongs to his own party. The CM attacked the Centre for protecting the people whose names have appeared in lalitgate scandal. “This is the principle of BJP to protect its own people even if they are culprits. But this is not the rule of law nor does this principle have any morality.
