Congress Rajya Sabha member KVP Ramachandra Rao, an accused in the titanium scam in the United States, continues to face the heat as the Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police B Prasad Rao on Saturday confirmed receiving the Red Corner notice from the Central Bureau of Investigation.

“However, we have not received any arrest warrant,” he told a Press conference in Hyderabad on Sunday. The State police officials were talking to the CBI officials on the issue of the arrest warrant, he said. “As he was a member of police, we have not put him under watch,” Prasad Rao said. The FBI has issued the Red Corner notice against the member of Rajya Sabha from Andhra Pradesh after he figured along with four others in a charge sheet in connection with bribery case for a titanium-processing project in Andhra Pradesh.

Ramachandra Rao has sought the intervention of Andhra Pradesh High Court to stop his arrest citing India’s sovereignty and conflict of laws of nation. In his lunch motion, KVP’s counsel argued that even if the bribery case was fit for a legal trial, the trial should be held in India. He described the Red Corner Notice as unconstitutional and a violation of civil rights. However, the High Court refused to entertain the lunch motion and asked the counsel to move a regular petition.
