Former deputy Chief Minister and senior State BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi on Tuesday charged the Bihar Chief Minister for being soft on Maoists as he wanted to take their help in upcoming lok Sabha polls. Earlier, Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde had also shot off a letter to Nitish Kumar accusing him for being soft on taking action against Maoists in Bihar.
“Nitish Kumar Naxaliyon ke prati soft hain..koi karyawahi nahi kar rahen hain kyonki woh lok Sabha chunav mein unki madad lena chate hain (Nitish Kumar has been soft towards Naxal and not taking any action as he wants to take their help in upcoming lok Sabha polls),” alleged Modi.
Modi also said that in a pamphlet pasted by Maoists in certain pockets of the affected areas they had only named BJP leaders for attack. “Why only BJP leaders are being on target by the MaoistsIJ... and, why the State Government has minimised security to those leaders with threat perceptionIJ”, asked the former deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader.
“Earlier, Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde too has shown the mirror to Nitish Kumar for being soft on taking on the Maoists in the State,” Modi further said. He also said that it would better if the Nitish Government takes strong action against Maoists rather than the ruling party MPs creating ruckus in Parliament.
Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde had shot off a strong letter to Nitish Government last week and while accusing for being soft on taking action against Maoists.
While responding on the letter, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday had said that the Union Home Minister’s analysis in the letter was not objective. Though, Nitish Kumar had admitted that some Maoists related incidents of serious nature have taken place in the State in recent times but the number has gone down.
The Bihar CM had also said that he had sought the facts and figures on the issue from the State Police Headquarter to respond Shinde’s letter.
While rubbishing all the allegations made by BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi, the ruling party JD-U leader and MlC, Neeraj Kumar said that after parting ways from the ruling alliance the State BJP leaders have become bhashai aatanki (language terror).
“When the BJP leaders were in the Government were they not aware about Government’s Naxal policyIJ..Is it only after the split they get the enlightenmentIJ”, asked the JD-U leader. He also said that Nitish Kumar Government had taken many significant steps against Maoists which are being emulated by other States.
“Of late, the Nitish Government had started seizing properties of Maoists which is being appreciated and emulated by other States…doesn’t the BJP leaders know itIJ”, said the ruling party leader. He further said that as far as Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde’s letter is concerned it would be responded soon.
Meanwhile, five Maoists were arrested in Aurangabad district of Bihar. “All the arrested Naxals were involved in some Naxal incidents,” said district police chief Upendra Sharma.
It was in Aurangabad the Maoists had blown up a police jeep killing six of them, including the local police in-charge Ajay Kumar Yadav. Aurangabad has been one of the worst affected Naxal districts of the State.
