Nitish-Tejashwi meet fails to break stalemate in mahagathbandhan

Despite a long and “cordial” meeting of Deputy CM Tejashwi Prasad Yadav with his boss Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday evening, all seemed not normal in the mahagathbandhan and the stalemate continued even though the RJD, the JD(U) and the Congress leaders claimed that everything was perfect.

After the meeting, RJD sources said both Tejashwi and his father and RJD supremo lalu Prasad were satisfied. JD(U) spokesman Ajay Alok said the party’s stand on Tejashwi issue was still unchanged and it wanted that he should explain his position before the public. “There is no problem in the alliance but it is the moral responsibility of the Deputy CM to come clean,” said Alok on Wednesday.

RJD’s Shivanand Tewari said the alliance was back on the track but he questioned JD(U)’s demand from Tejashwi that he should clarify his position. “It is not the business of the party to force him to explain his position. let the CBI do its job and he will reply to the agency,” he said.

The Congress also claimed that all was well in the alliance and whatever misunderstanding had been was removed after the meeting between Nitish and Tejashwi. Party spokesman Harkhu Jha said BPCC chief Ashok Chaudhary played very positive role in ensuring the meeting between the two.

However, Senior leader Sushil Kumar Modi asked, “If the CBI after 10 hours of interrogation remained unsatisfied how come the CM got satisifed after 35 minutes of meeting. The zero tolerance policy was changed in a few minutes.”

Modi said the way Tejashwi went to the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday with the army of RJD Ministers indicated that he showed his power to the CM and challenged his authority.

The BJP felt that Nitish was under pressure of lalu and has no authority to take any action. State BJP chief Nityanand Rai, former Minister Nandkishore Yadav and former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi also teased Nitish. “It is simply and shadow boxing to divert public attention from the failure of this Government,” added Manjhi.
