Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday slammed the local media for not giving adequate coverage to him and activities of his Government. Nitish said that while he was working day and night for the development of Bihar, others were just daydreaming about the Prime Minister’s chair.

“I ask you (read local media) if I and my government are not visible in Bihar then who else areIJ” asked Nitish Kumar while looking at the gathering of local mediapersons present to cover his Sankalp Rally in Deedarganj area of Patna. “Even my party JD(U)’s Sankalp rallies held so far were not given adequate coverage. A lot of people were coming at my rallies but the media prefers to ignore it,” he rued at his party’s final ‘Sankalp rally’ in the State capital.

Besides, the Chief Minister also attacked the poll survey reports suggesting his party’s dismal performance while projecting the Opposition BJP’s impressive performance in the upcoming lok Sabha polls. “If that’s what going to be the outcome, what is the need for holding electionsIJ” he said,  adding that if the BJP thought that it has already won the elections on the basis of these survey reports, then what was the need to contesting the poll altogether.

“Modi should go ahead and take oath as Prime Minister straightaway if he and the BJP think that they have won the general elections on the basis of the survey reports,” said Nitish.  He expressed wonder over the survey reports which had suggested that even today 68 per cent people of the State have reposed faith in his Government, but they would vote for the BJP-led alliance in the General Elections.

“Is it possible that the people are happy with my Government’s performance and yet they prefer to vote for another alliance at hustlingIJ Don’t you think the survey reports are self-contradictoryIJ” he said. Nitish Kumar also appealed to the people that they should not believe such reports as it was being done to create confusion among them. “Believe me if you will not vote for us in the lok Sabha they would make fall my Government in the next 10 days”, Nitish said at his Sankalp rallies.

“All these survey reports are just for entertainment value as I’ve said earlier… I do not believe them at all and you [people] too should go with it”, he appealed to the people gathered to at his Sankalp Rally. Meanwhile, senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Shushil Kumar Modi has fired fresh salvo at Nitish Kumar and claimed that the Maoist activities in recent days in Bihar have increased.

Maoists demanding levy from contractors has created fear psychosis among the people in the State of late, hundreds of people are losing their life in the violence, perpetrated by the rebels as well as security forces in counter-insurgency operations, charged Shushil Modi.
