There was more tension between Bengal Government and it’s western neighbour with Bihar Chief Minister on Saturday summoning the parents of the Madhyamgram gang-rape and murder victim to Patna.
This even as the victim’s father complained non-cooperation against the State administration.
Earlier, senior Bengal Minister and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s close confidant Bobby Hakim had openly criticised the Bihar Government for “unnecessarily poking its nose in affairs of another State defying the federal norms of a country.”
Bengal had also protested Bihar Government’s grant of Rs one-lakh compensation to the victim’s family.
The parents of the victim, who had earlier met President Pranab Mukherjee demanding CBI inquiry, had objected to police apathy and even complained against the ruling party goons for threatening them to go back to their native place in Bihar.
The victim, a 16-year-olg-girl, was raped several times in two months despite police complaint being lodged by the family before being murdered by her tormentors who allegedly set her afire after raping her once again triggering a countrywide rage.
Hakim refused to react when asked to comments about the Bihar Chief Minister’s proposed meeting with the victim’s family who would start for Patna on Sunday.
