Nitish denies hand in Prez Bihar visit

A day after BJP charged that through President Pranab Mukherjee’s visit to the State the Nitish Kumar Government is trying to sabotage party’s Hunkar Rally, the Bihar Chief Minister on Monday said that President’s visit was prescheduled and he was not coming on State Government’s invitation. Nitish Kumar also rebutted what Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh had said on special status demand of the State Government.

“He (President) is coming to attend two functions — one in a Central Government programme and other at a convocation ceremony at Ara. The State Government is nowhere in the picture as far as President’s programme is concerned,” clarified Nitish Kumar. He also took a dig at BJP leaders saying they have a tendency to create sensation on such issues.

“Karyakram ko banana mein humlogon ki koi bhumika nahi hai…yeh unka pehle se tay karyakram hai,” said Nitish Kumar. When asked about BJP leaders alleging that he was trying to create hurdle in their leader Narendra Modi’s Hunkar Rally, Nitish said that BJP has been in habit of creating sensation out of such issues.

Earlier, senior BJP leader and former State Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar had tweeted on Sunday that through President’s visit Nitish Kumar was trying to create hurdle in NaMo’s visit to the State to participate in Hunkar Rally. Some other BJP leaders too had charged the Chief Minister on similar lines.

Meanwhile, the BJP leaders have requested President Pranab Mukherjee to reschedule his visit to Bihar which has coincided with party’s Hunkar Rally.

Nitish Kumar also rebutted Union Rural Minister Jairam Ramesh statement on Sunday that for special status Bihar need a special tailor who would come from the Congress party itself, Nitish Kumar said that he might have said for the sake of saying.

“As far special status issue is concerned we dealt with either the Prime Minister or Finance Minister or the Planning Commission. He [Jairam Ramesh was nowhere in the picture,” he said.

While taking a dig at development plank of Nitish Government, Union Minister Jairam Ramesh had said in Patna on Sunday that the PDS system in Bihar is one of the worst and for the demand of special status the State needs a special tailor and he would come from the Congress. Ramesh statement apparently had shocked the JD(U) which of late, has been coming closer with the party, especially after its split with the BJP.

When asked whether his party would make an alliance with the Congress for the upcoming Parliamentary poll, the Bihar Chief Minister said that they have not thought over it yet. “Abhi vichar hi nahi kiya hai is par… vichar karenge tab na nirnay lenge”, he said. The JD(U) is going to hold its executive workers meeting in Rajgir on October 27. “At meeting the party will mull over such an issue,” said Nitish Kumar.

Earlier, on Sunday party leader and Rajya Sabha member Shivanand Tiwari had said that now time has come that his party should make an alliance with the Congress Party.

Meanwhile, the State BJP leaders have apprehended that Nitish Kumar has intentionally trying to scuttle party’s Hunkar Rally in which Narendra Modi would address the people of the State. “He has got scared with the kind of support the NaMo is getting and the rally is going to be the biggest ever rally in the State”, said BJP leader Giriraj Singh.
