Nitish declares support to Kovind ahead of AICC meeting

Published on:

Giving a jolt to the Opposition bid for unity on the Presidential election, Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) president Nitish Kumar on Wednesday finally declared to support NDA nominee Ramnath Kovind.

True to the strong speculations making round for two days, the JD(U) made its decision public only a day before the meeting of the Opposition parties in Delhi. The JD(U) will skip the Thursday meeting called by AICC president Sonia Gandhi.

After a day of hectic activities at CM residence where Nitish first had meeting with party MPs and MlAs, he chaired the core committee meeting which was attended  by Sharad Yadav and KC Tyagi. The meeting discussed all the aspects of Presidential election and endorsed the views of Nitish, who from the day when Bihar Governor’s name was announced by the BJP, was in favour of Kovind keeping in view his track record as Governor.
