Nitish CM but lalu super CM, alleges Bihar BJP

After attacking the Nitish Kumar-led Government over a series of murder and law and order related issues, the BJP has alleged that governance has nosedived as the State has two power centres with “Nitish as CM and lalu Prasad as super CM.”

The BJP took exception to RJD chief lalu giving advise to the CM over crime control and policing and now making surprise inspection of Governsment controlled Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS). Former deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi on Monday asked Nitish to explain in what capacity lalu was making inspection of hospital and summoning the officials and giving them dressing down. lalu’s elder son Tej Prartap Yadav, who recently was in the news for riding a horse, is Health Minister but there is a buzz in political and administrative circles that principal secretary health department AK Mahajan, a favourite of RJD boss, is running the affairs.

lalu on Sunday evening made a visit to the IGIMS and called its director Dr SN Biswas. He went to see the medical wards and under construction facilities besides seeking information from the patients about the facilities. “It proves there are two power centres in Bihar. While, Nitish has taj (crown), lalu is controlling raj (rule),” said Modi.

The BJP leader said, “lalu’s son Tej Pratap is Health Minister who remained absent in the Assembly only to avoid giving replies and now his father goes to inspect IGIMS and issues directives to its director and principal secretary health department. If lalu has his ways he may chair the cabinet meetings. lalu is trying to prove Nitish a failure on law and order front and with his direct intervention in the official works, he is showing the CM his place.”

Modi in a sarcastic tone advised Nitish to declare lalu super CM and appoint him as chairman of an advisory body similarly as then PM Manmohan Singh had appointed Sonia Gandhi. Time and again lalu is reminding the CM that he is the leader of 80 legislators and big boss, he added. “Nothing could be more ridiculous than lalu, known for 15-years of misrule, is giving the CM tips for controlling crime and telling him how to govern. Now Nitish should accept lalu as his guru,” commented the BJP leader.

Political observers said with his sarcastic remarks BJP was only provoking Nitish and his party JD(U).

After lalu’s suggestions on law and order in the wake of the murder of three engineers in Darbhanga and Vaishali, there had been exchange of unpleasant words between the leaders of RJD and JD(U) leaders. The JD(U) leaders asserted that Nitish knew how to govern and control crime and he needed not be advised. Reacting to that, lalu had sternly asked them to observe restrain before opening their mouths and said that they were issuing statements only to enhance their TRP.
