Nirbhaya’s mother on Sunday asked Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to apologise and submit his resignation after he said that the death sentences for rape convicts have led to an increase in killings of those who are sexually assaulted.
Asha Devi, Nirbhaya’s mother said that girls were murdered even, before the provision for death sentence came and Gehlot has made fun of Nirbhaya, the law was made by their government.
“This shows their (CM Gehlot) mentality of supporting culprits while they don't have sympathy for victims. The law isn’t bad, people’s mentality is. He must apologise & should give his resignation,” she said.
Meanwhile, reacting on CM Ashok Gehlot statement, Swati maliwal, the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief said that he should stop using the language of rapists, the way he made fun of Nirbhaya has hurt the sentiment of rape victims.
