State fisheries department on Sunday alerted fishermen of coastal Kutch and Jamnagar districts for next 48 hours in wake of possible diversion of tropical Cyclone ‘Nilofar’ created due to depression over central part of Arabian Sea.
According to meteorological department, the cyclone is currently diverted towards Oman and it is nearly 700 km away from Bay of Kutch. There are possibility, it may diverted to the Bay of Kutch and may create strong winds. According to PC Malli, director of fisheries in Kutch, the final version of Nilofar cyclone can’t be predicted as it is expected to change its track rapidly. However, as part of precautionary measures fishermen along the coast of Jamnagar and Kutch have been alerted and advised to avoid to go into deep sea, he continued.
