The 209th Working Committee of National Federation of Indian Railway men (NFIR) reviewed the position relating to various legitimate demands which continue to remain unresolved by the Government and Railway Ministry
Som Nath Malik, Press Secretary, NFIR said that NFIR General Secretary M Raghavaiah, in the recently held meetings decided that union be mobilised for launching agitation which includes “industrial action” from first week of August 2013.
The NFIR in its Working Committee meeting in May 2013 reiterated their demands on pending issues. “This situation has generated serious disappointment and frustration among the Railway employees on Indian Railways as they feel that the Government is non-responsive towards settling the pending demands,” Malik said in a Press release.
Demands include anomalies arising out of Sixth Central Pay Commission report, abolition of new Pension Scheme, Productivity linked Bonus (PlB) on actual wages without enforcing any ceiling, merger of DA with pay, exemption of Transport Allowance from the purview of Income Tax, revision of entry grade pay of Station Masters, special privileges and facilities for women employees etc.
Recently, the NFIR also took up some issues with Railway Board including that of Ticket Checking Staff to be classified as “Safety Category”, Parcel Porters working at Railway Stations on Zonal Railways should be regularised and railway employees recruited under largess should be allowed to retain railway quarters allotted to their parents.
