The last day of 2017 and the first day of 2018 were painfully torturous for two Bihar Ministers. While one received extortion call another was assaulted and humiliated at Tarapith in West Bengal.
While a couple was arrested by the police on charge of making extortion call to Cane Development Minister Khurshid Alam alias Feroze Ahmad on December 31, 2017, an FIR was lodged by a hotel executive against Urban Development Minister Suresh Sharma and his bodyguards and other staff on January 1, 2018 for beating the hotel staff and breaking computer and other furniture. Minister’s official car was allegedly detained by the hotel.
The violent incident involving Sharma took a serious turn when the hotel management filed an FIR and accused the Minister’s companions of being inebriated. The CCTV footage4 showed that the Minister’s bodyguard raised his automatic weapo0n and some others hitting the hotel staff on reception with lathis. later on the hotel staff gathered and thrashed Minister’s staff. Sharma was also being beaten by the irate hotel workers but his secretary denied that the Minister was hurt.
The incident at Tarapith also raised some questions like how come the Minister took his armed bodyguards to West Bengal via Jharkhand with permission.
