New Delhi to ludhiana Shatabdi Express train will halt at Jind from Sunday onwards. The train would halt there on all seven days of the week thus directly benefiting the people of  the area.

Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda traveled in the train on Sunday and reached Jind where he was warmly greeted  by the people.

Speaking on the occasion, Deepender Singh Hooda said that Delhi –ludhiana Shatabdi Express was functional from the past one-and-a-half years but it had no stoppage at Jind.

He said that with a view to connect Jind directly with New Delhi and ludhiana, efforts were being made for its stoppage at Jind.Union  Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge had  made an announcement to this effect  during the rail-road rally organised at Hansi on July 28.

Deepender said that  to connect Jind directly with Delhi, the work of Jind-Gohana-Sonepat railway line was expected to be completed by the end of this year. This new railway line would prove to be a new center of development. He said that in  the last Railway Budget, approval was given  for electrification of Rohtak –Jind-Jakhal railway line. After the completion of this electrification work, an EMU train would also run between Jind and Delhi.

He further said that it was after about 116 years that Jind has got a new railway line that is  Jind-Gohana-Sonepat. Before this, it was only during the tenure of British government that Jind-Narwana railway line was constructed in the year 1897.

“The present Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has decided to spend a huge amount for the construction of this railway line. In the previous railway budget, two rail coach factories have been approved for the country, out of which one would be set up in Sonepat constituency,” he added.
