In the midst of flood fury that has engulfed half of Bihar, here comes a good news. A baby boy named NDRF Singh took birth on a motorboat in river Ganga. Indrajeet Singh’s wife Maya Devi was pregnant. Marooned in floodwaters in her village Koshiyan in Bhojpur, they prayed Ganga Maiya to recede. But when she started having labour pain, her hubby requested the patrolling personnel of NDRF to take his wife to the district hospital at Ara.
National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is engaged in relief and rescue operations in flooded areas of the State.
The NDRF team quickly reached the destination and took the couple and other villagers, including some women on the motorboat to take them to the hospital but the baby was born midstream on the boat.
“If the NDRF team has not reached on time and took us on boat it was very difficult to say what would have happened. So we named the baby as NDRF Singh as their acknowledgement,” said the proud father of the baby. Both the baby and his mother are doing well.
Mother Maya Devi too is thankful to the NDRF personnel who helped them in such a difficult moment. “Naming our baby as NDRF Singh we’ve expressed our gratitude to them,” she said.
The NDRF team leader Rakesh Singh is also excited that the baby was born without any problem and was named after their organisation.
“I’m happy that both the mother and the baby are doing fine and yes, for the baby who was named NDRF Singh. It happens rarely and this way they would remember us for a long time,” said Rakesh Singh whose team has been camping in flood-hit Bhojpur for the relief and rescue operations.
