The BJP on Tuesday claimed that it was right on its target of winning more than 350 lok Sabha seats as 28 parties including the TDP, have already joined hands with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

“BJP-led NDA is much stronger than the Congress-led UPA which is sinking day by day,” said BJP Vice-President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi here at a Press conference. He said the number of parties joining the NDA fold has increased as more of them have accepted and shown confidence in the leadership of BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi.Naqvi claimed that the NDA will come to power in the center with more than 350 seats and create a strong Government with good governance.

He said that regional concerns of BJP are clear as large number of important political parties have decided to become a part of the NDA.

Besides the TDP who joined NDA last week, Naqvi said other parties in the alliance include Akali Dal, Shiv Sena, Telugu Desham Party, Republic party (Athavale), lok Jan Shakti Party, Revolutionary Socialist Party(Kerala), Rashtriya lok Samta Party, MDMK (Tamil Nadu), PMK, DMDK, Rashtriya Samaj Paksh (Maharashtra), Swabhiman Paksh (Maharashtra), KMDK, IJK, All India NR Congress, Jan Sena Party, Kerala Congress, Haryana Janhit congress, Apna Dal, National People’s Party (Meghalaya), Naga People’s Front (Nagaland), United Democratic Front (Mizoram), Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha, Maharashtra Gomantak party, New Justice party, North East Regional Political Front, National People’s Party.

He said that the Congress has not only collapsed politically “but fallen to the lowest level ethically.” “Every day, prominent leaders of the Congress lie to the country and give misguided statements so as to spread a web of illusions, but this effort of the Congress is failing and people have lost trust in the Congress,” said the BJP leader.

Asked what would BJP do if Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid were to give his support to the party, Naqvi said BJP never asked for such support as “We don’t want vote by way of Fatwa, but seek vote in the name of development.” He said parties should contest on the basis of issues namely development and progress. Parties are welcome “to polarise votes” in the name of development, the BJP leader said. “For Congress, its secularism is also not working for it,” he said.
